Tobias Smith and Cristiano Menezes gave outstanding presentations in last week’s webinar. Both made an excellent point that we do not need to extract these bees from nature anymore, we have great methods to propagate them.
So, let’s stop the destructive removal of stingless bee nests from their natural homes, such as logs. Tobias and Cristiano also warned us about the dangers of movement of stingless bees to beyond their native range. ANBA supports these sentiments. Please think carefully before moving these bees, you may be causing harm to the local species by spreading disease and generating competition.
