Wide Bay Branch News April 2021

The Wide Bay Branch of the Australian Native Bee Association held its March meeting at Adam Kent’s residence at Burnett Heads Bundaberg.

Tony Harvey (Chair) advised the meeting via email that he had been in discussion with Bundaberg Regional Council about notification and collection of native bee hives from water meter boxes. These hives would be provided to Schools and other institutions for display and education. Process for removal and ongoing maintenance with education to be further discussed and decided.

It was decided that non-members could attend their first meeting as an introductory meeting and then subsequent meetings they would need to be members.

Adam Kent presented comprehensively to the attendees his method of eduction and his success rates and how he was achieving and improving these rates as well as box design and other information. This was very well received and appreciated by the members and guests.

Wide Bay Stingless Bees, Precision Bees and Bee Prepared are holding a workshop on the 10th April 2021.
