Cassowary Coast Branch – October 2023

The Cassowary Coast Branch didn’t meet in October, however, we have been swamped with requests to work with students in schools in our cluster and to speak or workshop at local centres. There are more community talks, school visits and workshops coming up in November and December. The October events have included:

  1. Making bee hotels holiday workshop for kids at Mission Beach library;
  2. Delivering Science lessons to Mission Beach State School’s Year 6 classes which included working with the Yr. 6 teacher to align the topic of native bees with the Australian Curriculum objectives;
  3. Helping to set up Murray River Upper’s rescued hive in their school;
  4. A short talk at C4 Mission Beach’s Open Day (World Cassowary Day), about the importance of native bees, C4’s pollinator plants list, what the Cassowary Coast Branch does within our community and our branch’s role within the ANBA.
