Australian Native Bee Conference 2026

Tim Heard, for the Organizing Committee
The most anticipated event on the Australian native bee calendar has ticked off its fourth iteration. With a reputation for being stimulating and fun, the pressure was on for Organizer Dr Ros Gloag and her committee, and they did not disappoint. The Conference brought together 42 speakers from across Australia and overseas (India, Malaysia, Mexico and Brazil) to share the latest discoveries in native bee biology, conservation, agriculture and beekeeping. The following pages provide a preview of the ideas, discoveries and conversations heard at this year’s conference.

The speaker abstracts can be found on the program book on the conference website. The speakers limited to 10 minutes which kept them punchy and energetic. The three Plenary talks got 20 mins and each had a different flavour. Moving forward, we could ask speakers to give longer lectures on their specialist topics at our monthly ANBA event. Let us know who and what you would like to hear.
